2011 off to an exciting start
The 2010 holiday season was fantastic for IcedOrchid.com. Its jewelry got featured in Best Richmond Weddings, Brides.com, Glamour.com, IDazzle.com, TheFlagship.com and Inside Weddings Winter! Leaving no doubt, that its bling is getting noticed by more and more people each day!
All this doubled our resolve to start 2011 with a bang! So January saw IcedOrchid.com forge a great partnership with WeddingWire.com. Now couples, have the opportunity to view IcedOchid.com’s fabulous jewelry on WeddingWire.com’s storefront. What’s more, in February 2011, IcedOrchid.com will be offering an “inspirational board discount” of 10% on all wedding bands, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants. Mid January 2011, IcedOrchid.com also made its first ever appearance at a bridal show by debuting at the Connecticut Bridal Show at Hartford Connecticut. Its booth was flooded with brides wanting to try on the vast array of wedding bands we were displaying. Some of them even eyed the engagement rings and whispered comments like “I’d love to swap mine for this beauty!” Doubtlessly these smart women are already planning ways in which they will discreetly push their husbands on to IcedOrchid.com to make sure they get their first anniversary band from us. After all they have pre-selected it already!

IcedOrchid.com spent the Halloween weekend in Washington DC attending the Marine Corp Marathon Health Expo. The “star” at IcedOrchid.com’s booth was the glittering “Diamond Stud Giveaway Earring”. To win the earrings, all the participants had to do was take a simple “I Know You So Well” compatibility quiz with someone who really knew them well!
The questions asked were really simple such as the color of your eyes, your shoe size etc. The response to the question ‘what is yours, and your partner’s most annoying habit” elicited amusing replies. Replies ranged from “just one?” to “she is simply perfect.” Most couples had a good laugh after we corrected the quiz and handed it back to them to compare replies. A lot of women stated that as long as her man got the replies to “place of their first date” and the “ring from the display stand that your partner would like” right, they would forgive all other wrong answers! Would it surprise you to know that the men had no such demand? 90% of the time, women completed the quiz before the men. IcedOrchid.com deduced that this was because women generally know exactly what they want, and boy did they want those earrings!
Since we had a hand full of high scores, we placed the top scorers in a box and had Ms. Tia Conner from the Nissan booth pick the final winner. The winning couple was Xuan Luo and Calvin Ko.
Xuan and Calvin wed just four months ago and were thrilled to receive the beautiful diamond stud earrings valued at $1900. Xuan an IT consultant, and Calvin an AeroSpace Engineer, living in Alexandria VA are tennis buffs. They were at the expo, as support runners for team “Go Daddy Ko,” as Calvin’s father Mr. Ko, was to run the 36th full marathon of his life! On October 8th 2010, not only was IcedOchid.com the table wine sponsor at the Hampton Roads U.S. Navy’s 235th Birthday Ball, but it was giving away a fantastic diamond bracelet absolutely free in a lucky draw. The evening started with a VIP reception, where very distinguished looking men in uniform, escorted their elegantly gowned partners for a meet and greet. Thereafter, the party moved down to the banquet hall of the Norfolk Waterfront Marriott and the fun began.
Mrs. Bianca Martinez, TV News Anchor Channel 3 WTKR, was the Mistress of Ceremonies. In true Navy spirit, there was a table of one, set in memory of those who valiantly down their lives protecting our freedom. The ball began with the a special screening of a historic video made on the US Navy, followed by the Flag Colors Ceremony and the playing of the National Anthem. Then came the speeches and the cutting of the birthday cake, which was no ordinary cake cutting. The Mistress of Ceremonies identified the oldest and youngest serving members present that evening, through a lot of date calling, and they, along with the chief guest, cut the cake with a sword! Following this, were the numerous toasts and finally came the moment everyone was waiting for….. The lucky draw to find the winner for the gorgeous 231 round brilliant cut diamond bracelet, valued at $3000 that IcedOrchid.com was giving away! Lady luck favored the sweet Ms. Amber Clark who won herself the wonderful jewelry. After all that excitement came the dancing and everyone let their hair down, put their hands in the air, and danced the night away.

My personal favorite amongst these, is “Queen Ice” which is a sure show stopper. This Halo diamond engagement ring, has a dazzling 1.00 – 1.25 Ct.
